IRGC warns of retaliation after US-Israeli strikes hit Iranian universities

Iran-US war

The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has issued a warning, declaring US and Israeli universities in the West Asia region as legitimate targets for retaliation following the bombing of Iranian universities by US-Israeli forces.

In a statement published by the IRGC’s Public Relations, and shared by Iran’s semi-official Tasnim News agency the group condemned the recent airstrikes that targeted Tehran University of Science and Technology, and vowed to respond by targeting two universities affiliated with the US or Israel in the region.

The statement, titled “Announcement No. 50 of Operation True Promise 4,” called on the US government to issue a formal condemnation of the bombings by 12:00 PM on March 30, Tehran time, to prevent further escalation.

The IRGC further advised all employees, students, and residents near US university campuses in the region, such as those in Qatar and the UAE, to stay at least one kilometer away from the institutions for their safety.

The IRGC also warned that if the US fails to act and continues its “savage” attacks on Iranian universities and research centers, retaliation would be carried out. The statement concluded with a Quranic verse, noting the legitimacy of responding to aggression in kind.

The recent airstrikes, which targeted several sites in Tehran including the university, have escalated tensions in the region. While no casualties were reported, significant damage to buildings was reported at the Tehran university.
