Is Marvel jumping the gun on ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ trailer?

WEB DESK: Seventeen years after the MCU began with Nick Fury’s surprise pitch to Tony Stark, the franchise has fallen into certain rhythms: familiar post-credit teases, recurring stars, and long-established marketing beats. But Marvel appears ready to break one of its quieter traditions for Avengers: Doomsday, by unveiling its first trailer far earlier than usual.

Marvel has kept Doomsday tightly under wraps. Beyond the headline-grabbing reveal that Robert Downey Jr. will return as Doctor Doom, almost nothing is confirmed. The chaotic “chair stream” gave fans a cast list, but it remains unclear whether that lineup is even complete. Given how often post-credit scenes end up half-canon, even the Fantastic Four: First Steps tease offers little clarity.

Now, according to reports, Marvel will premiere the first Doomsday trailer on December 19 alongside Avatar: Fire and Ash, a full year before the film hits cinemas in December 2026. That’s the widest and wildest gap ever between an Avengers trailer and its release, reversing a decade-long trend of shrinking lead-ups.

The shift reflects a tougher moment for the MCU. Recent entries like Thunderbolts and First Steps performed respectably but fell short of the franchise’s peaks. With the Russos returning to helm Doomsday, Marvel seems intent on rebuilding momentum, and starting that campaign earlier than ever.
