Is Pakistan out of Champions Trophy?

Pakistan India ICC Champions trophy

RAWALPINDI: With New Zealand’s much-expected victory over Bangladesh in the sixth group stage match of the Champions Trophy 2025 in Rawalpindi on Monday, Pakistan is out of Champions Trophy, period.

The today’s match happened to be the last nail in the coffin for the Pakistan cricket team as it left all hopes of qualifying for the next stages of the tournament dead.

Pakistan was in the Group A of the tournament, from which two teams were supposed to be selected for the semi-finals based on the points.

With two victories and four points for each, India and New Zealand have already won their place in the semi-finals.

The remaining two teams in the Group A – Pakistan and Bangladesh – can pick their seats in the stadium to enjoy the remaining matches as spectators, as they could not qualify for the next stages of the tournament.

The early fall of Pakistani cricket team has saved their fans from doing a lot of maths and puzzle work. There remain no ifs and buts about it as Pakistan lost all its two matches of the tournament and earned zero point.

The fans seemed to be ready for Pakistan’s ouster as Shaheens had taken a dangling start in the tournament. They suffered a humiliating defeat from News Zealand by 60 runs in the Champions Trophy 2025 opening match at Karachi’s National Bank Cricket Stadium.

New Zealand had posted a formidable total of 320 for 5 in their allotted 50 overs, powered by centuries from Will Young and Tom Latham.

While chasing the target, Pakistan lost all the wickets for 260 in 47.2 overs.

However, hopes were still alive that Pakistan will make a comeback during its second match of the tournament against their arch-rival, India.

Apparently, Shaheens had decided not to disappoint the nation by showing unexpected performance this time. So, they did exactly what was expected from them – lose the match against India.

Pakistan is out of Champions Trophy in just four days. The tournament commenced on February 19 and Pakistan’s journey ended on February 24.
