Is the ‘dancing man’ in leaked video Kash Patel?

President-elect Donald Trump said he wanted former National Security official and loyalist Kash Patel to lead the FBI.

A video circulating online, purportedly showing a dancing man “leaked from FBI Director Kash Patel’s Gmail account,” is not new and has been publicly available for years. Despite recent claims linking the video to a reported hack of Patel’s personal Gmail account by Iranian hackers, archival evidence shows the clip has been online since at least 2021.

The footage, which features a man dancing exuberantly as his wife leaves for her home, first appeared on YouTube on March 29, 2021, under the title “Do PeG Andar Mandakini Bahar” with accompanying hashtags such as #best, #comedy, #cover, and #dance. A 2022 report by Times Now described the clip as “a man’s enthusiastic dance to celebrate his wife leaving for her home,” highlighting the man’s energetic moves to the song “Sun Sahiba Sun” from the Bollywood movie Ram Teri Ganga Maili, while friends cheered him on in the background.

On March 29, 2026, the video resurfaced on X (formerly Twitter) with captions falsely claiming it was the “only leaked video from Kash Patel’s Gmail account.” The post sparked confusion amid media reports of Patel’s account being compromised, but investigative fact-checkers confirmed the video predates any recent cyberattack by several years.

Lead Stories and other fact-checking platforms have emphasised that the clip’s viral resurgence does not indicate any connection to Patel’s email or personal data. Social media users are urged to verify the origins of such viral content and rely on credible sources to avoid spreading misinformation.

In summary, the so-called “leak” is merely a long-standing viral video that has circulated on YouTube and social media for at least five years, entirely unrelated to any Gmail breach or security incident involving FBI Director Kash Patel.
