Ishaq Dar calls for economic and security cooperation at ECO

WEB DESK: Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar addressed the 29th Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Foreign Ministers’ Council, emphasising the importance of regional collaboration for sustainable growth and development. Congratulating member states on the successful convening of the meeting, Dar highlighted the vast economic opportunities available within ECO countries and Pakistan’s ongoing commitment to advancing the organization’s objectives.
Speaking on the need for stronger ties, Dar stressed that fostering connections among ECO members is essential for joint economic progress and investment. He called for creating a conducive environment for investment, enhancing transport connectivity, and strengthening partnerships to ensure sustainable regional development.
Dar highlighted Pakistan’s efforts to promote infrastructure and connectivity, including the completion of the Islamabad-Tehran-Istanbul railway, which he described as a critical link for Central Asia, China, and the Middle East. He also underscored Pakistan’s strategic role in facilitating trade and regional integration.
Addressing security concerns, Dar noted the importance of overcoming challenges, particularly terrorism, through cooperative measures. He urged ECO countries to collaborate in tackling shared threats while continuing to advance regional prosperity, connectivity, and economic integration.
Pakistan remains committed to supporting ECO initiatives and promoting stability, development, and partnership across the region.
