Ishad Dar hold separate meetings with French, EU and Egyptian foreign ministers

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held separate meetings with French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noel Barrot, European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas and Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty in New York on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Dar, French FM discuss bilateral ties, stress diplomacy to address regional issues

Ishaq Dar met French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noel Barrot, with the two sides discussing bilateral relations and regional and global developments.

According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening ties with France through enhanced political engagement, trade and investment, educational cooperation and people-to-people contacts.

Dar appreciated France’s efforts for a two-state solution to the Palestine issue and welcomed its decision to restrict imports of goods from Israeli settlements.

The two foreign ministers stressed the need to keep the Palestine issue high on the international agenda and called for sustained global efforts for a just, durable and comprehensive solution.

They also discussed the situation in Iran and stressed the importance of continued diplomatic engagement and regional efforts to address the crisis.

The ministers emphasised the importance of implementing the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding aimed at contributing to a resolution of the Iran-related crisis.

They also stressed the need to ensure maritime security, freedom of navigation and uninterrupted energy supplies, noting the wider economic impact of disruptions to shipping and energy flows.

The French foreign minister appreciated Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts for peace and stability in the region, according to the Foreign Office.

The two sides agreed on the importance of using regional forums to address challenges and promote dialogue.

Pakistan and France also agreed to maintain close contact on bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.

Dar, EU foreign policy chief discuss Pakistan-EU ties

During his meeting with Kaja Kallas, Dar highlighted the importance of the Pakistan-EU partnership, particularly in trade and economic cooperation.

He stressed the importance of GSP+ for Pakistan’s trade relations with the European Union and appreciated the bloc’s constructive engagement with Pakistan amid the regional situation.

Dar also appreciated the EU’s recognition of Pakistan’s efforts to reduce tensions in the region and promote dialogue.

The two sides discussed regional and global developments, with Dar stressing the need to return to dialogue and diplomacy to address regional challenges.

He also underlined the importance of full implementation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding by all parties and called for continued diplomatic efforts and consultations for sustainable solutions to regional issues.

Both sides agreed to maintain close contact on matters of mutual interest and continue efforts to strengthen the Pakistan-EU partnership.

Dar and Kallas had co-chaired the eighth round of the Pakistan-EU Strategic Dialogue in Islamabad in June, where the two sides agreed to enhance cooperation in bilateral relations, trade, investment and other areas.

Dar, Egyptian FM discuss bilateral cooperation

During his meeting with Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr Badr Abdelatty, Dar and his Egyptian counterpart reaffirmed the longstanding fraternal ties between Pakistan and Egypt and expressed their resolve to further strengthen bilateral cooperation.

The two foreign ministers discussed ways to promote trade, investment, economic cooperation, education, cultural exchanges and people-to-people contacts.

They also exchanged views on regional and global issues, including the situation in the Middle East and Iran.

Both sides stressed the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in addressing regional challenges, while Dar highlighted the need for all parties to fully implement the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.

The two sides also agreed to continue consultations under the Regional Four Framework, enhance contacts on matters of mutual interest and promote international cooperation and an effective multilateral system to address global challenges.
