ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad district administration has announced new operating hours for all commercial establishments, markets, and restaurants to conserve energy, according to an official notification.

Islamabad Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon said on social media platform X that the revised timings came into immediate effect on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, and will remain in force until further orders.

Under the new regulations, shops, markets, shopping malls, bazaars and departmental stores will close by 9pm, while standalone grocery and kiryana stores, marriage halls and marquees will close by 10pm.

Restaurants, cafes, eateries, food outlets and standalone fruit and vegetable shops will be allowed to operate until 11pm, although takeaway and home delivery services will remain exempt from the restrictions.

The administration has, however, exempted essential services from the time restrictions to avoid public inconvenience.

Hospitals, clinics, medical laboratories, pharmacies, fuel stations, electric vehicle charging stations, information technology companies, gyms, sports facilities and padel courts will continue to operate under their normal hours.

The district administration has directed law enforcement and administrative teams to ensure strict compliance with the new closing hours across the capital territory.
