Islamabad and Beijing call for Middle East de-escalation as Dar meets Ambassador Jiang


WEB DESK: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, held high-level talks with the Chinese Ambassador, Jiang Zaidong, on Tuesday, as Islamabad intensifies its diplomatic efforts to address the deteriorating security situation in the Middle East.

During the meeting held at the Foreign Office, both officials engaged in a comprehensive exchange of views regarding volatile regional developments and broader global challenges, according to Daily Times.

Mr Dar underscored the “urgent necessity” of reducing tensions in the Middle East, maintaining that a shift toward de-escalation is vital for international stability.

The Deputy Prime Minister further highlighted that Pakistan remains steadfast in its belief that dialogue and diplomacy are the only sustainable instruments for resolving the current impasse.

Reaffirming the all-weather strategic partnership

Beyond the immediate crisis in the Middle East, the discussions served to reinforce the deep-rooted bilateral ties between the two neighbours.

Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to the Pakistan–China All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership, which remains a cornerstone of Islamabad’s foreign policy.

They reached a consensus to maintain rigorous coordination on matters of mutual interest, ensuring that both nations continue to align their positions on the international stage.

The meeting comes at a pivotal moment as Pakistan seeks to leverage its diplomatic capital to prevent further conflict, with Mr Dar having held similar consultations with several key international interlocutors over the past 48 hours.
