Heavy rain lashed multiple sectors of Islamabad, with dark clouds blanketing the city and plunging several areas into near darkness. In Sector G-6, trees were uprooted at various locations, while vehicles were left stranded in accumulated rainwater. The downpour also affected neighbouring Rawalpindi, where low-lying areas were inundated following the rain.
Localities including Dhoke Kala Khan, and Shakrial reported water entering homes, raising concerns among residents. The intense rainfall disrupted routine life, causing traffic issues and increasing the risk of urban flooding in affected areas. More rain is expected as the weather system continues to influence the region.
Traffic movement across key parts was disrupted as rainwater accumulation and ongoing development work caused congestion on major routes. According to Islamabad Traffic Police, slow traffic was reported in areas including Faizabad Skyways Adda and Tramri Chowk, where standing rainwater hindered the smooth flow of vehicles. Additional delays were observed near the Park Road underpass due to construction activity.
Traffic officials have been deployed across affected areas to manage congestion and assist commuters. Authorities have advised citizens to plan their journeys with extra time to avoid inconvenience, particularly during peak hours. Commuters have also been urged to cooperate with traffic personnel and exercise patience amid the disruptions. For assistance or real-time updates, residents can contact the traffic helpline at 1915 or the emergency helpline 15, officials said.
