ISLAMABAD: A cashless Ramadan Sasta Bazaar has been established in the G-6 Aabpara area of Islamabad to provide essential commodities to citizens at controlled prices during the holy month.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the market to review arrangements and inspect stalls set up for vegetables, fruits and other essential items. During the visit, he examined the quality and prices of food items and directed the administration to prominently display official rate lists to ensure transparency.
The minister also instructed authorities to further improve cleanliness and security arrangements at Ramadan bazaars. Interacting with shoppers at various stalls, he inquired about the quality and pricing of goods. Some citizens complained about non-compliance with the displayed rates, prompting Naqvi to emphasise that prices must be clearly written and visibly posted so the public can compare official market rates with those being charged.
He said providing affordable and quality items to the public was the government’s top priority, adding that no negligence in delivering public relief would be tolerated.
The Deputy Commissioner Islamabad briefed the minister on the arrangements, informing him that several private companies have also set up stalls at the G-6 market. The bazaar will remain open daily from 9am to 4pm. Officials said a special monitoring mechanism has been activated to ensure items are sold in accordance with official mandi rates.
Chief Commissioner Islamabad, the Deputy Commissioner, Director General Enforcement, Assistant Commissioner and other senior officials were also present on the occasion.
