WEB DESK: The District and Sessions Courts of Islamabad have issued orders preventing the arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former prime minister along with his spouse Bushra Bibi in six cases, including the high-profile May 9 incidents.

According to Jang, hearings were presided over by Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka, who extended pre-arrest bail for both individuals until December 23. The court also instructed that the PTI founder be produced in the next hearing either in person or via video link.

Due to the founder’s absence during Tuesday’s session, the court was unable to hear arguments on his bail applications and therefore adjourned the proceedings for further consideration on December 23.

Bushra Bibi was also granted extensions on interim bail in all six cases.

The cases against the PTI founder include the May 9 unrest, allegations of attempted murder, and submission of fraudulent receipts, among others. Bushra Bibi faces a case related to the alleged submission of fake receipts.

The court’s decision to bar arrests while extending pre-arrest bail ensures that both the PTI founder and his spouse remain temporarily shielded from detention as the legal proceedings continue. Authorities and legal experts say the next hearing will focus on reviewing the bail petitions and determining whether additional conditions or measures need to be imposed.
