Islamabad crime rate soars in last nine months


ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad police earlier this month claimed that armed robbery and theft incidents in Islamabad have decreased by 11 per cent compared to the previous year. However, the latest data shows that the crime rate in Islamabad has risen sharply in the first nine months of 2023, with a record number of motorcycles and cars being stolen.

A total of 1,292 motorcycles and 432 cars were stolen in Islamabad in the first nine months of 2023, a significant increase from the same period last year when 762 motorcycles and 280 cars were stolen.

The highest number of motorcycles and cars were stolen from the following police stations:

Aabpara Police Station: 284 motorcycles and 100 cars
Industrial Area Police Station: 385 motorcycles and 113 cars
Barakahu Police Station: 76 motorcycles and 16 cars
Bani Gala Police Station: 37 motorcycles and 4 cars
Phulgran Police Station: 15 motorcycles and 4 cars
Tarnol Police Station: 88 motorcycles and 31 cars
Ramna Police Station: 158 motorcycles and 68 cars
Sabzi Mandi Police Station: 129 motorcycles and 64 cars
Sumbal Police Station: 9 motorcycles and 8 cars
Sanjarani Police Station: 90 motorcycles and 29 cars
Sahhala Police Station: 31 motorcycles and 14 cars
Secretariat Police Station: 72 motorcycles and 23 cars
Shalimar Police Station: 117 motorcycles and 28 cars
Shams Colony Police Station: 90 motorcycles and 12 cars
Shahzad Town Police Station: 128 motorcycles and 31 cars
Karapa Police Station: 88 motorcycles and 11 cars
Karachi Company Police Station: 281 motorcycles and 94 cars
Khanna Police Station: 153 motorcycles and 17 cars
Koral Police Station: 270 motorcycles and 48 cars
Kohsar Police Station: 182 motorcycles and 64 cars
