The Islamabad Food Authority (IFA) has issued a major warning for owners of unregistered food outlets and restaurants in the federal capital.
Prior to this announcement, authorities partially sealed a popular restaurant located in Jinnah Super Market for allegedly violating cashless payment regulations. Citizens had raised concerns on social media that the restaurant was not accepting card payments.
The authority has decided that from December 1, a strict crackdown will begin against all unregistered food points and restaurants across the city. According to IFA, all hotels, restaurants, bakeries, cafés, fast-food outlets, and other food establishments must complete their registration by November 30. Any unregistered business operating after this date will not be permitted to function.
The Director of IFA clarified that daily inspections will be conducted starting December 1. Any food outlet or restaurant found operating without registration will be immediately sealed, and heavy fines will be imposed for violations.
He emphasised that this step is crucial for ensuring hygiene standards in the food sector and protecting consumer health. Businesses operating without registration are not only illegal but may also pose a risk to public health.
The Director urged all owners of food outlets, restaurants, and hotels to complete their registration and submit proof to the authority’s records by November 30 to avoid any action. Registration is available both online and offline, and the authority has also set up a dedicated helpline to guide citizens through the process.
