ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Traffic Police have announced a special facility allowing college and university students to obtain motorcycle driving licences without completing the mandatory 42-day learner period.

The facility will be available from November 1 to 30, 2026, the traffic police spokesperson said.

“Students wishing to benefit from the initiative can visit the Islamabad Traffic Police Headquarters,” Chief Traffic Officer Kainat Azhar Khan said in a video message.

She said the initiative aimed to facilitate young people in obtaining motorcycle licences in accordance with legal requirements and to ensure compliance with traffic rules.

In a separate initiative, the Islamabad Traffic Police have established dedicated pink counters at all police facilitation centres and traffic headquarters to make services more accessible to women.

Women can obtain driving licence and character certificate-related services at these counters, which will be staffed exclusively by female personnel, the spokesperson said.

The counters are intended to provide women with a safe, respectful and comfortable environment, while ensuring privacy, dignity and convenient access to services. Their cases will be handled on a priority basis, the spokesperson added.

Kainat urged women to visit the police facilitation centres and use the service, saying that empowering women and providing them with safe, dignified and quality facilities remained a priority.
