Islamabad police arrest suspect in rape, murder of three-year-old girl

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad police have arrested a man on charges of raping and killing a three-year-old girl in the jurisdiction of Noon Police Station.

According to Islamabad police, the suspect was arrested within two hours after the girl was reported missing and a case was registered.

After receiving information that the girl, identified as S*, had gone missing, Islamabad DIG Ali Wasim constituted police teams under the supervision of Industrial Zone SP Dr Ayaz Hussain to trace her and arrest the suspect.

The police teams used CCTV footage, modern technology and human intelligence to trace and arrest the suspect, identified as Kashif, in less than two hours, police said.

Following the suspect’s disclosure and identification of the location, police recovered the girl’s body.

Police said the suspect was related to the victim and was her brother-in-law.

The body was shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences for medico-legal formalities.

Police said station house officers from all zones participated in the search operation.

Further investigation is under way, while police are examining other aspects of the incident.

SSP Operations Islamabad Qazi Ali Raza said all legal requirements would be fulfilled to ensure that the suspect was brought to justice in accordance with the law.
