Islamabad police head constable, son killed by robbers

ISLAMABAD: A police head constable and his son were shot dead by robbers in Islamabad on Sunday, according to a tweet by the Islamabad Police.

The tweet said that head constable Muhammad Ashraf was passing through the Sector G-11 area of Ramna Police Station limits when he witnessed a robbery in progress. He tried to intervene and apprehend the culprits, but they opened fire at him.

His son, who came to his rescue, was also hit by the bullets. Both of them died of their injuries.

Senior police officials reached the scene with a large force and launched a search operation to nab the suspects.

The funeral prayers of the slain policeman and his son were offered at the Police Lines Headquarters. The funeral was attended by police personnel, district administration officials, law enforcement officers and members of the public.
