Islamabad private schools shift to four-day week to save fuel

Islamabad authorities have issued a notification implementing a four-day workweek for all private educational institutions in the capital, effective immediately. Under the new arrangement, on-campus academic activities will be conducted from Monday to Thursday, while Fridays and Saturdays will be off.

The decision, the notification states, has been made in line with government austerity measures and fuel-saving initiatives. All private schools in Islamabad are required to comply fully with the directive, which will remain in effect until further notice.

Officials emphasised that the move is part of broader efforts to reduce energy consumption and operational costs while ensuring that academic programs continue without disruption. Private institutions are expected to adjust schedules and operations accordingly to align with the revised workweek.
