ISLAMABAD: Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is set to arrive in Islamabad today for a two-day official trip aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Indonesia. As a result, some closures and traffic disruption is expected in the federal capital.
The Islamabad Traffic Police has issued an important advisory for citizens, detailing key routes that will be affected by road closures and heavy traffic over the next two days. The advisory comes in anticipation of unusual traffic congestion on major highways, particularly between 11:00 AM and 12:00 PM on December 8 and 9:00 PM and 10:00 PM on December 9.
In light of these traffic pressures, the police have urged motorists to avoid unnecessary travel, use alternative routes, and plan their journeys in advance.
KEY AFFECTED AREAS:
- Faisal Avenue
- Islamabad Expressway
- Srinagar Highway
ROAD CLOSURES:
Express Chowk and Marriott Gate will be closed for entry into the red zone.
ALTERNATIVE ROUTES:
- Serena Road, Nadra Road, and Margalla Road are recommended as detours for affected areas.
- For Citizens Traveling from Rawalpindi to Islamabad: Use Rawal Road, Ninth Avenue, Faqir Api Road, or Srinagar Highway.
- For Citizens Traveling from Islamabad to Rawalpindi: The suggested routes are from Zero Point or Srinagar Highway to Ninth Avenue.
- For Those Coming from Murree or Bhara Kahu: Alternative options include Korang Road, Bani Gala Route, Park Road, or Lahtra Road.
To maintain smooth traffic flow, Islamabad Traffic Police will deploy officers at key intersections, ensuring assistance is available for travelers.
Citizens are encouraged to stay updated on traffic conditions through ITP Radio 92.4 FM and the official social media platforms of Islamabad Police.
