ISLAMABAD: US Vice President JD Vance has arrived in Islamabad on Saturday to lead the American delegation in upcoming peace talks with Iran, according to Reuters. The high-level discussions, scheduled to begin later in the day, are aimed at easing tensions between Washington and Tehran following a period of heightened conflict.

Pakistan is hosting the talks as part of its diplomatic efforts to facilitate dialogue between the two sides. Officials hope the negotiations will help build momentum towards a ceasefire and broader de-escalation in the region, with both delegations expected to engage in key discussions.

Earlier in the night, Iranian delegation led by Speaker of Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf arrived in Islamabad ahead of key ceasefire talks with the United States, the Foreign Office said. The delegation was received by senior Pakistani officials, including Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir, National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.

The visit comes as Pakistan facilitates dialogue between Tehran and Washington amid heightened regional tensions. Welcoming the delegation, Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to promoting diplomacy and de-escalation, expressing hope that all sides would engage constructively.

He also reiterated Islamabad’s willingness to continue supporting efforts aimed at achieving a lasting and sustainable resolution to the conflict. Pakistan has consistently advocated dialogue as the preferred path forward, especially given the fragile regional security environment. The visit is being seen as an important step towards easing tensions and advancing peace efforts.
