ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Traffic Police have announced that residents of the capital will be able to apply online for learner permits, driving licence renewals and duplicate licences from Monday, October 19, under a new initiative to facilitate motorists.
According the ITP, citizens will be able to access the services through the traffic police’s online portal without having to visit licensing offices to submit their applications.
The police said that renewed and duplicate driving licences would be delivered to applicants’ homes through TCS, eliminating unnecessary trips to offices to collect the documents.
Chief Traffic Officer Kainat Azhar Khan urged applicants to provide their complete names, correct residential addresses and active mobile phone numbers when submitting applications online.
She cautioned that incorrect or incomplete addresses could delay the delivery of driving licences.
The initiative has been introduced on the instructions of Islamabad Inspector General of Police Captain (retd) Muhammad Sohail Chaudhry as part of efforts to expand digital services and make licensing procedures more convenient for residents.
The police said that the initiative aimed to save citizens’ time and improve access to public services through a streamlined online application process.
The official Islamabad Police website already provides digital services, including online learner-permit applications and driving-licence-related facilities. Applicants can access the Islamabad Traffic Police driving-licence portal at https://dlims.islamabadpolice.gov.pk/ for online services.
The police announcement said that the relevant services will no longer be available at Traffic Headquarters in Faizabad and other police Khidmat Markaz from Monday.
Residents should therefore check the online portal for application procedures and any updated instructions before visiting a licencing centre.
