Islamabad United defeat Karachi Kings

KARACHI: Islamabad United defeated Karachi Kings by 6 wickets in the 10th match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10.

The match between Karachi Kings and Islamabad United was played at the National Stadium in Karachi. Islamabad United’s captain won the toss and chose to field first.

Batting first, Karachi Kings scored 128 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted overs, setting Islamabad United a target of 129 runs to win.

Tim Seifert was the top scorer for Karachi Kings with 30 runs, while Abbas Afridi made 24, Saad Baig 20, and Khushdil Shah contributed 17 runs. Five of the Kings’ batters failed to reach double figures.

For Islamabad United, Naseem Shah, Jason Holder, and captain Shadab Khan took two wickets each.

In the run chase, United lost their first wicket at 34 when Sahibzada Farhan was dismissed after scoring 30 runs with one six and five fours. Karachi Kings quickly picked up a second wicket as Colin Munro was bowled by Hasan Ali for just 4 runs, leaving United at 38.

United’s third wicket fell at 103 when Azam Khan, after hitting one six and three fours, was bowled by Mohammad Nabi for 31 runs.

Shadab Khan scored 47 off 40 balls with two sixes and five fours before being dismissed when just one run was required for victory.

For Karachi Kings, Hasan Ali took 2 wickets while Mohammad Nabi and Abbas Afridi claimed one each.

Earlier, speaking at the toss, Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan said the pitch had visible cracks, which prompted the decision to bowl first. He added that the team would play according to their game plan against Karachi.

He also announced two changes in the Islamabad United squad, with Mohammad Nawaz and Roston Chase included in the playing XI.
