LAHORE: Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan will sit out today’s PSL match against Quetta Gladiators due to a groin injury, the franchise confirmed on Saturday.

The decision to rest him was taken as a precaution after he experienced discomfort while batting against Peshawar Zalmi in the previous game.

According to a statement by United, Shadab underwent a scan following the match. The team is awaiting the results and will provide a further update once the medical report is available.

Islamabad United lost to Peshawar Zalmi by six wickets on Friday at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium. Chasing a target of 144, Zalmi completed the run chase in the 17th over.

Despite the defeat, United remain at the top of the table with 10 points from 7 matches, having won five.
