Islamabadians to face six-eight hours’ load shedding

load shedding

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has announced the beginning of load shedding across the city due to low the supply as the failure of the Gudu power plant to resume operation worsened the power shortage across the country.

In a post on X, IESCO said a gap between supply and demand had emerged in its region necessitating load management.

It added that loads would be managed across all circles for six to eight hours. However, the load management would end when the supply was restored.

IESCO also reposted another post by an additional director from the IESCO, saying that 17 feeders had been manually switched off in G-9 after a fire.

Meanwhile, Peshawar Electric Supply Company also announced that residents of the region would face ‘forced’ load shedding over the next few days.

PESCO ALSO ANNOUNCES LOAD MANAGEMENT

PESCO said that that circuits often trip due to technical faults leading to decrease in supply.

The company added that the load shedding was a result of difference between supply and demand.

Besides Islamabad and Peshawar the electricity load shedding has intensified across major cities of Pakistan as the shortfall reached 5000MW.

According to sources, the major cities including Lahore are facing up to 3 to 4 hours of unscheduled load shedding and up to 8 hours in rural areas despite low power demand in winters.

Sources said that the total power generated in country is 14500 whereas the shortfall reached 5000MW.

Despite the unscheduled load management earlier the power division confessed to overbilling consumers, changing their slabs and damaged meters.
