ISPR confirms former army chief Gen (r) Qamar Javed Bajwa hospitalised

WEB DESK: Former chief of army staff General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa, Nishan-i-Imtiaz (Military), sustained an injury after a fall at his residence and is currently undergoing treatment at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH), the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Thursday.

In a brief statement issued on February 12, 2026, the military’s media wing confirmed that the former army chief was injured due to a fall at home. He has since been shifted to CMH, where he is receiving medical care.

No further details regarding the nature of his injury or condition were immediately shared.

‘Out of danger’

In a social media video, brother-in-law of Bajwa, Naeem Ghumman, said he sustained a head injury after slipping while barefoot at his residence.

Ghumman added that medical examinations and all necessary tests showed nothing concerning. “He is 100 per cent out of danger,” he confirmed.

Bajwa, 65, served as Pakistan’s 10th chief of army staff from November 29, 2016, to November 29, 2022, including a tenure extension granted in 2019. Since retiring, he has mostly remained out of the public spotlight.
