Israel bombs petrol station in southern Lebanon

WEB DESK: The strike targeted an Al-Amana petrol station situated on the outskirts of the Rashidieh camp, located just south of the ancient port city of Tyre.

Footage from the scene on Tuesday afternoon showed a towering plume of fire and thick black smoke billowing into the sky following the blast, according to Al Jazeera.

While the explosion caused extensive structural damage to the facility and surrounding infrastructure, Lebanese emergency services have reported no immediate casualties from the site, as many residents had already begun to flee following military warnings.

Humanitarian concerns mount over displacement

The incident occurred shortly after the Israeli military issued “urgent” evacuation warnings for several high-density areas, including the city of Tyre and the refugee camps of Rashidieh, Burj Shemali, and al-Buss.

These orders have drawn sharp condemnation from international human rights monitors, including the International Commission of Jurists (ICJ), who argue that the speed and scale of the forced displacements make it nearly impossible for civilians to find genuine safety.

Since the conflict escalated sharply at the beginning of March, health officials in Beirut estimate that more than 1,000 people have been killed, with the United Nations warning of a deepening humanitarian crisis as nearly 20% of the Lebanese population is now displaced.
