ISLAMABAD: Italy has announced plans to employ more than 10,000 Pakistani workers over the next three years, following a labour agreement between the two countries.
Under the new arrangement, Pakistan has been allocated a workforce quota, allowing skilled and semi-skilled workers to fill positions across multiple sectors, including hospitality, healthcare, agriculture, shipbreaking, welding, technical roles, and food services. Jobs will also include roles such as chefs, waiters, housekeeping staff, nurses, medical technicians, and farmworkers.
Each year, around 3,500 Pakistanis are expected to travel to Italy for employment, with 1,500 joining under the seasonal quota and 2,000 under non-seasonal positions. Notably, Italy becomes the first European nation to reserve a specific job quota for Pakistan.
Officials also confirmed that the second meeting of the Pakistan-Italy Joint Working Group will take place in Islamabad in February 2026 to review and further strengthen bilateral labour cooperation.
