ITCN Asia Pakistan a landmark global tech event: IT Minister Shaza Fatima

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information Technology Shaza Fatima has described ITCN Asia Pakistan as a premier and globally recognised technology event, highlighting its role in showcasing Pakistan’s growing digital ecosystem.

Speaking ahead of the event, the minister said Pakistan’s startup environment had strengthened significantly under the supervision of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, creating new opportunities for innovation, investment and skills development. She noted that more than 27,000 technology professionals are currently working within Special Technology Zones across the country.

Shaza Fatima said the government has already trained over 300,000 children in digital and technology-related skills and aims to provide training to 800,000 people this year, reflecting a major push to expand Pakistan’s digital workforce.

She said the upcoming Digital Nation System would bring transformative change to Pakistan’s IT sector by improving integration, governance and service delivery through technology.

The minister said the ITCN Asia Pakistan event would see participation from more than 500 global technology leaders, including the president of the Global CISO Forum from the United States. She added that the National Special Technology Zones Pavilion would prominently feature initiatives branded as “Made in Pakistan” and “Powered by Pakistan” to highlight local innovation.

Shaza Fatima said that over the past four years, the Special Technology Zones Authority has established 32 Special Technology Zones nationwide. She added that guidance for the Special Technology Zone pavilion was provided with the support of the Special Investment Facilitation Council, underscoring inter-agency collaboration to promote Pakistan’s technology sector on a global stage.
