Japan beat Pakistan to win Azlan Shah Cup for the first time

IOPH: Japan secured a historic victory over Pakistan in a penalty shootout on Saturday, clinching the Azlan Shah Cup for the first time with a four-goal lead at the Azlan Shah Stadium in Ipoh.
After an intense match where both teams scored two goals apiece by the end of full time, the final outcome had to be decided through a shootout.
Pakistan has clinched the Azlan Shah Cup title three times: in 1999, 2000, and 2003. In the last edition, held in Ipoh in 2022, Pakistan secured third place.
Six teams participated in the event, including host teams Malaysia, Pakistan, Korea, Japan, New Zealand and Canada.
