JI to protest today against US-Israeli strikes on Iran

Jamaat e Islami Iran protest

Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) Pakistan has called for nationwide demonstrations on Friday (today) to denounce the recent US-Israeli attacks on Iran and to show support for the Iranian people.

According to a statement from the party’s information secretary, JI Emir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman conveyed this plan following a meeting with Iranian Ambassador Reza Amiri Moghadam in Islamabad. During a subsequent press conference earlier, Rehman strongly condemned the military action, labelling the United States, Israel, and India as an “evil trinity” working against Muslim interests.

The JI chief also criticised the newly established Board of Peace, initiated by former US President Donald Trump, calling it a deceptive platform. He urged the Pakistani government to immediately withdraw from the coalition, despite Pakistan being a member state.

During his discussion with the ambassador, Rehman offered his condolences for the loss of Iranian leaders, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who were killed in the recent strikes. “He prayed for the departed souls and reassured the ambassador that both the people of Pakistan and Jamaat-i-Islami stand in complete solidarity with Iran during this difficult time,” the statement read.

In response, the Iranian envoy expressed gratitude for JI’s support and acknowledged the party’s ongoing efforts to foster unity within the Muslim world.

Rehman also used the press conference to address domestic political leaders, urging both the ruling coalition and the opposition to issue a clear and unified condemnation of the attacks. He further accused the Trump administration of violating international law and called for the former president to be declared a war criminal.

Addressing internal matters, the JI leader demanded a transparent and impartial inquiry into the recent firing on protesters outside the US Consulate in Karachi. He appealed to all demonstrators to maintain a peaceful approach during the upcoming protests scheduled for Friday across every district.

Lastly, Rehman voiced his concerns about the deteriorating relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan. He called on both governments to engage in constructive dialogue to settle their differences and to ensure that Afghan territory is not utilised for militant activities against Pakistan.
