Jimmy Butler injury raises concern after Warriors’ win over Heat

Jimmy Butler injury

SAN FRANCISCO: Golden State Warriors forward Jimmy Butler suffered a frightening right knee injury during Monday night’s 135–112 victory over the Miami Heat, leaving the team anxiously awaiting further medical results.

The injury occurred with 7:41 remaining in the third quarter as the Warriors clung to a 77–75 lead. Butler leapt to receive an alley-oop pass from Brandin Podziemski and took contact from Miami guard Davion Mitchell while attempting to finish at the rim. As he came down, Butler appeared to land awkwardly, causing his knee to give way. He immediately fell to the floor in visible pain, clutching his right knee.

Warriors medical personnel quickly attended to Butler, and he was later helped off the court by teammates Buddy Hield and Jonathan Kuminga. Butler did not return to the game.

Following the win, head coach Steve Kerr acknowledged the seriousness of the situation, admitting that the team is deeply worried about their star forward. Kerr said Butler underwent an MRI shortly after the game, with results expected by Tuesday. While no official diagnosis has been released, Kerr emphasized that the organization is concerned and waiting for clarity.

Golden State is hoping to avoid a long-term setback for Butler, who has been a key contributor this season. Through 37 games, he is averaging just over 20 points per contest along with 5.6 rebounds and 4.9 assists, helping guide the Warriors to a 25–19 record.

Acquired in a blockbuster trade from Miami last season, Butler has become a central figure in Golden State’s pursuit of a fifth NBA championship. For now, the franchise, and its fans, are holding their breath as they await updates on his condition.
