ISLAMABAD: In a FIFA World Cup qualifier showdown, Jordan delivered a commanding performance, blanking Pakistan with a decisive 3-0 victory.
The clash, held at Islamabad’s Jinnah Ground, saw the national squad striving to elevate their game but falling short on scoring opportunities.
Musa Al-Tamari emerged as a standout for Jordan, netting two goals, while Ali Olwan contributed with one, solidifying their dominance over the green shirts. Notably, Jordan had recently clinched a spot as Asia Cup finalists, showcasing their formidable prowess on the field.
Group G of the FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers sees Saudi Arabia leading the pack, followed by Tajikistan in second place, with Jordan securing third position. Pakistan, meanwhile, occupies the fourth spot after facing setbacks in earlier matches against Saudi Arabia and Tajikistan.
Jordan’s football team had embarked on a notable tour of Pakistan back in 2006. Their return to Pakistani soil was marked by a warm reception led by Jordan’s Ambassador Dr Maen Khreisat, accompanied by embassy members and football federation officials, upon their arrival from Muscat to Islamabad.
