ISLAMABAD: An Islamabad court ordered the release of a judge’s son after the families of two girls killed in a hit-and-run incident pardoned him.
The development came during the hearing of the case in the district and sessions court Islamabad involving the deaths of two girls struck by the judge’s son’s vehicle.
A settlement was reached between the judge’s son and the victims’ families, who pardoned the accused, Abu Zar.
In the court of Judicial Magistrate Shaista Kundi, the victims’ families recorded their statements, after which the court approved Abu Zar’s bail and ordered his release.
The brother of one of the deceased girls appeared in the court to record his statement, while her mother submitted her statement online. The father of the second girl also recorded his statement before the judge.
A few days earlier, on the main PTV Chowk road in Islamabad, a speeding vehicle driven by the judge’s son rammed into two women riding a scooty. One girl died on the spot, while the other succumbed to her injuries after being moved to hospital.
Police had arrested the accused, registered a case at Secretariat Police Station, and produced him before a court, which had handed him over to police on physical remand.
