Junaid Jamshed continues to rule our hearts

ISLAMABAD: Junaid Jamshed, renowned singer, songwriter, religious scholar, preacher, and Na’at Khwan, is being fondly remembered by his fans on his seventh death anniversary.

Junaid Jamshed, along with his second wife, tragically lost their lives on December 7, 2016, in a devastating plane crash in Havelian, which claimed a total of 47 lives. The ill-fated flight was en route to Islamabad from Chitral.

Born on September 3, 1964, Jamshed’s journey was marked by diverse accomplishments. Graduating in Mechanical Engineering in 1990, he initially aspired to become a professional F-16 fighter pilot in the Pakistan Air Force, following in the footsteps of his father, a retired Group Captain in the PAF. However, due to weak eyesight, his nomination papers were rejected by the PAF selection board.

Turning to the world of music in 1983, Jamshed rose to fame with the iconic song ‘Dil Dil Pakistan,’ released on Independence Day in 1987. The track catapulted him to international acclaim, and his music album ‘Vital Signs’ further solidified his popularity. Notably, a 2003 poll conducted by BBC World Service ranked Junaid Jamshed’s “Dil Dil Pakistan” as the third-best song globally.

In a transformative journey, Jamshed renounced music in 2004, dedicating his life to Islam after a profound encounter with renowned preacher and scholar Maulana Tariq Jameel.

His commitment to religious service was recognized by the government of Pakistan in 2007 when he was awarded the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz.

Additionally, Jamshed left a lasting legacy with his popular clothing brand, “J.”, which boasts numerous outlets across Pakistan and abroad.
