A dignified swearing-in ceremony was held in Quetta on Monday as Justice Kamran Khan Mulakhail took oath as the new Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court (BHC).
The oath was administered by Governor Jafar Mandokhail, with Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti, senior judges, lawyers and provincial officials in attendance. The ceremony marked a significant moment for the province’s judiciary, drawing a strong turnout from the legal fraternity.
Meanwhile, speaking to reporters after the event, Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti underscored the urgent need for collective action on climate change, warning that Balochistan remains the most severely affected region in the country.
He noted that nearly 50 per cent of houses across the province have been destroyed due to climate-related disasters, with recurring droughts and devastating floods crippling the local economy and disrupting livelihoods.
The chief minister stressed that improving water management, transportation and energy infrastructure has become essential for resilience. He added that climate-smart agriculture and energy projects have already been placed among the government’s top development priorities, reflecting a broader push to steer Balochistan toward sustainable recovery and long-term stability.
