Karachi bar approves December 20 elections after emergency meeting

The Karachi Bar Association has approved a proposal to hold its elections on December 20 following an emergency general body meeting.

President Karachi Bar Association Aamir Nawaz Warraich said lawyers will assemble outside the Sindh High Court on Friday morning to request the Chief Justice to allow the elections to be held on Saturday.

He added that a request will also be made for the appointment of a new election commissioner, while confirming that no strike will be observed.

The KBA president said the Chief Justice declined to immediately appoint a new election commissioner.

The Karachi Bar Association elections scheduled for today were earlier postponed due to the ill health of the election commissioner.
