Karachi sees light drizzle as PMD forecasts more rain, cloudy weather

KARACHI: Light drizzle was reported in parts of Karachi on Monday, as the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecast partly cloudy conditions with chances of further rainfall in the city.

Intermittent drizzle was observed in several areas including in Jinnah Avenue, Gulshan-e-Maymar and surroundings areas with partly cloudy weather in most areas.

, providing some relief from recent weather fluctuations, while authorities warned of more rain later in the day.

The PMD said Karachi is likely to experience partly cloudy and windy weather, with chances of isolated rain and drizzle, particularly during evening and night hours.

The weather pattern is being driven by a westerly wave affecting parts of the country, which has already brought rain and thunderstorms to several areas of Sindh in recent days.

Temperatures in the city are expected to remain in the range of around 31–33°C during the day, with humidity levels gradually easing later in the evening, according to the forecast.

Karachi has seen unusual weather activity in recent days, with heavy rainfall earlier this month breaking long-standing records for April, as shifting climate patterns continue to influence seasonal trends.

The Met Office has also warned that under the influence of the current weather system, more spells of light to moderate rain and thunderstorms could occur in parts of Sindh, including Karachi, over the coming days.

Officials said residents should remain cautious, as sudden changes in weather, including gusty winds and isolated showers, could affect traffic and weak infrastructure.

The latest drizzle marks another phase in what meteorologists describe as an extended and “abnormal” weather pattern for the port city during April, a month that typically sees limited rainfall.
