Child abuse suspect Karachi 100 children

KARACHI: Police in Karachi have arrested a man accused of sexually abusing more than 100 children, along with an alleged accomplice, in what officials described as a major breakthrough in a long-running investigation.

According to Superintendent of Police (Investigation), Usman Sadozai, the arrests were made during a raid in the Tipu Sultan area following identification by one of the victims. The main suspect, identified as Imran, and his alleged accomplice Waqas Khan were taken into custody.

Sadozai said that between 2020 and 2025, seven complaints had been formally reported to police. DNA analysis conducted in all cases matched the same individual, a finding that confirmed investigators’ suspicions and led to the arrests. He said DNA tests were carried out promptly in each case, and action was taken on the basis of forensic evidence.

Reacting to the development, Murad Ali Shah said crimes involving the abuse of children would not be tolerated under any circumstances. He praised the police for apprehending the suspect and stressed the need for a thorough prosecution.

The chief minister noted that only seven victims had so far come forward and directed police to identify and locate any additional victims. He instructed that the case be pursued in court strictly on the basis of evidence to ensure those responsible are held accountable.

Murad Ali Shah also directed the Additional Inspector General of Police to submit daily progress reports on the case. He said the Sindh government had taken multiple measures aimed at protecting children and reiterated his commitment to strengthening safeguards against abuse.

Police said further investigation was under way, and additional arrests could not be ruled out as the case develops.
