Karachi students sweep top positions in MDCAT 2025 across Sindh

WEB DESK: Karachi students have dominated this year’s MDCAT 2025 examinations held under the IBA Sukkur University, securing the top three positions across Sindh, according to provisional results released on Friday.

As per initial data, all top three positions were claimed by students from Karachi, while 41 of the top 100 candidates also hailed from the city. The results revealed that despite strong academic backgrounds, many candidates with A-1 and A grades from various Sindh education boards failed to clear the test.

Overall, 56 percent of MBBS and 48 percent of BDS candidates were declared unsuccessful. Around 14,300 students scored 55percent (99 marks) or above to qualify for MBBS admissions, while 17,123 candidates achieved 50percent (90 marks) or more to qualify for BDS programs.

Position holders:

  • First place: Syed Mahmood Khan**, son of Adalat Khan from Karachi West, scored 175 out of 180 marks.
  • Second place (tie): Faisal Ashraf Khan from Korangi, Karachi, and Shiraz Hussain from Qambar Shahdadkot, both with 174 marks.
  • Third place (tie): Muhammad Riyan Humayun from Karachi East, Mahnoor Shah Nawaz from Korangi, and Hira Abid from Hyderabad, each scoring 173 marks.

According to Vice Chancellor Dr Asif Sheikh, candidates may file objections to the provisional results until 5 pm today, while final results will be announced on Sunday evening.
