Kasim Khan warns Adiala Jail protest could endanger Imran Khan’s life, urges supporters to stay away

ISLAMABAD: Kasim Khan, son of former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, has urged the public not to march towards or protest near Adiala Jail, warning that such a gathering could put his father’s life at risk.

In a post on X, Kasim said he had been instructed to ask the public not to attempt to march or protest near the jail on the day of the planned PTI mobilisation.

“I’ve been instructed to call on the public not to attempt to march or protest nearby Adiala jail on 27 March,” he said.

Kasim said he had heard from sources that a protest could be used as an excuse for a possible “counter” assault on the jail, where his father is being held.

He said such an action could endanger Imran Khan’s life.

“I’ve heard from sources that this may be used as an excuse for the establishment to launch a ‘counter’ assault on the jail … which could endanger his life,” Kasim said.

He urged the public not to provide any reason for incidents that could put his father at risk.

“Please do not give them any reasons for ‘accidents’ to happen to my father during the protest,” he said.

The appeal comes as PTI has announced an Islamabad long march in support of Imran Khan’s release and other demands. The Punjab government has imposed Section 144 across the province, while Rangers have been called in Islamabad and several cities in Punjab.

Several PTI leaders and workers, along with Imran Khan’s three sisters, have also been detained.

Kasim has previously expressed concerns about his father’s health in interviews with international media organisations. The government has maintained that Imran Khan has access to medical facilities and undergoes regular check-ups.
