Katy Perry allegation takes new turn as case escalates into the next stage

Katy Perry has been named in a police investigation in Australia following an allegation made by Ruby Rose, which authorities say relates to a historical incident in Melbourne.

Victoria Police confirmed that detectives from its Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team are investigating a sexual assault allegation reported to have taken place in 2010 at a licensed venue in Melbourne’s CBD.

Police did not name any individuals in their statement, but multiple outlets reported the probe follows a complaint filed by Rose.

Allegation moves into formal investigation

Rose, 40, has said she has now “finalized all of my reports” and will no longer comment publicly on the matter while the investigation is ongoing.

In a post shared on social media, she said the request to remain silent was standard procedure and described it as a step that would allow her to begin the healing process.

The allegation relates to an incident Rose claims occurred during a night out in Melbourne nearly two decades ago. She has previously said it took her years to speak publicly about the alleged experience.

Perry strongly denies claim

A representative for Perry rejected the allegation, describing it as “categorically false” and “dangerous, reckless lies”.

The statement also claimed Rose had a history of making serious public allegations on social media that had been denied by those involved.

Perry has not personally commented beyond the response issued through her representative.

Investigation remains ongoing

Victoria Police said it would be inappropriate to provide further detail while inquiries continue.

The case has now moved beyond social media claims into a formal police process, with authorities expected to determine next steps following their investigation.

As the probe continues, both the allegation and the denial remain central to a developing case that has drawn widespread attention online.
