Khadija Shah get post-arrest bail in another case

LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court in Lahore granted post-arrest bail to renowned fashion designer Khadija Shah in the fourth and final case registered against her after the May 9 incidents.

This case pertained to the alleged arson of police vehicles in the cantonment area. Khadija Shah, having previously secured bail in two cases related to the attacks on Jinnah House and Askari Tower, was re-arrested by the Sarwar Road police.

The Sarwar Road police asserted that Khadija Shah was involved in setting fire to police vehicles. This arrest took place despite her release on bail in two prior cases.

Earlier on May 9, she had been apprehended by the FIA in connection with a cybercrime case, accused of posting messages on social media to incite people against the army during the incidents of arson and vandalism.

Notably, the sessions court had previously granted bail to Khadija Shah in the cybercrime case.

Khadija Shah’s legal representative argued that the police lacked substantial evidence against her, emphasizing that the charges were based solely on statements from other detained individuals. It was contended that bail should be granted given the absence of concrete evidence.

During the court proceedings, the prosecutor presented the case record and highlighted that prosecution witnesses had identified Khadija Shah during an identity parade in jail. The prosecutor urged the court to reject the bail application based on this identification.

Following the arguments from both parties, ATC Judge Arshad Javed granted bail to Khadija Shah against a surety of Rs0.1 million.
