Khadijah Shah’s husband appeals against unlawful confinement

Khadija Shah

WEB DESK: Jehanzeb Amin, the husband of Khadijah Shah, who is a supporter of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has formally contested the detention order imposed upon his wife following the events of May 9.

The incident resulted in Khadijah Shah being placed under a 30-day detention under Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) 3 by the Lahore Deputy Commissioner (DC).

Amin’s legal challenge asserts that the MPO order is founded on unfounded allegations, characterising it as a breach of the law.

The petition, submitted to the Lahore High Court, lists several respondents, including the federal government and Lahore DC.

In his plea, Amin seeks the court’s intervention to prevent Khadijah Shah from being moved beyond the confines of Lahore.

He maintains that the court’s issuance of the detention notification is unlawful.
