Khawar Maneka speaks out: ‘My home is destroyed, children in distress

ISLAMABAD: Khawar Maneka, the former husband of Bushra Bibi, has said that the case of marriage during ‘iddat’ (waiting period) is not of a political nature, but a personal ordeal that has led to the destruction of his home, compelling him to seek legal recourse.

Speaking to Geo News in Islamabad, Maneka revealed that he was initially unaware of the secret marriage, which he deemed contrary to Sharia law, causing distress to his children.

When asked if his employee, Muhammad Latif, had informed him about Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi’s marriage, Maneka replied that an employee can only hint at such matters, not speak openly.

Maneka expressed that his children were even unaware of his divorce from Bushra Bibi, let alone the secret marriage between her and Imran Khan, which the children refuse to believe had occurred.

He further disclosed that it was only upon attending a court hearing that he saw the marriage certificate of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi for the first time, after which he informed his children about the marriage that had taken place on January 1, 2018, assuring them that he had seen the marriage certificate himself.

Maneka lamented that his children have been in distress for the past five years, emphasizing that the case is not politically motivated. “I don’t even know Imran Khan,” he said, “My home has been destroyed, and I was forced to come to court.”
