ISLAMABAD: In a rather sudden move, KIA Pakistan has increased the price of its hatchback and crossover SUV, Kia Picanto and Sportage, respectively.
The company has not shared any specific reason behind this decision. However, the official notification mentions that the new price will be effective from February 1, 2024.
The car assembler has only revised the price of the manual variant of Picanto, and after a jump of Rs. 250,000, the new price is Rs. 3,600,000 compared to the previous Rs. 3,350,000. The price is ex-factory with the inclusion of CVT.
Like Picanto, the price of Sportage’s Alpha variant has been increased by the same Rs. 250,000, taking its ex-factory (including CVT) price to Rs. 7,550,000 from Rs. 7,300,000.
Booking of both vehicles is open on partial payment.

This is the first car price hike of 2024, which means other companies could follow Kia Pakistan. Although the local car industry has stabilized relatively, high prices have still made cars a luxury for the masses, and this increase in the rate will further take them out of the reach of the common person.
The local car market has shifted from “ON” to “OFF” in the last year or so due to low sales as almost all companies are offering different offers, including free registration, free insurance, and cashback, and that is why this announcement of revised prices is a sudden move by Kia Pakistan.
