KIU expels 10 students over rule violations

GILGIT: The Karakoram International University (KIU) has taken disciplinary action, including the cancellation of registrations of 10 students and imposing restrictions on their entry into university campus for violating university rules and regulations, including disrupting the academic environment.

According to a press release issued by the KIU Public Relations Department, the decision was taken during a high-level emergency meeting chaired by the KIU vice-chancellor, and attended by deans and directors.

At the emergency meeting, the 10 students who had their registrations canceled were also barred from entering the university campus.

The students whose registrations are cancelled are Owais Mehdi (registration number 2021-GIU-5445), Department of Information Technology); Manawal Abbas, (registration number 2021-GIU-5503), Department of Computer Sciences; Ali Haider Taj (registration number 2021-GIU-BS4784), Department of IR; Ali Haider (registration number 2022-KIU-494), Department of Socialogy); Rahat Ali (registration number 2021-GIU-BS4922), Department of Sociology; Shahid Hussain (registration number 2021-GIU-BS4677), Department of Economics; Zulqarnain Abbas (registration number 2020-GIU-BS1916), Department of Chemistry; Hassan Asghar (registration number 2022-GIU-BS2641) Department of Anthropology; Aqila Batool (registration number 2022-GIU-498) Department of Sociology and Kulsoom, semester third (Department of Sociology).

KIU faces imminent shutdown

The KIU PRO said that these students obstructed classes by misbehaving with professors and fellow students.

In addition to this, they have been involved in boycotting classes and disrupting educational activities for the past few days.

During theemergency meeting, the PRO said, the rest of the students have been advised to focus on their studies and attend classes regularly.

“It was decided to take strict action against those who attempt to disrupt academic activities at the behest of external elements,” the KIU PRO said.
