PESHAWAR: The province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is poised for a monumental electoral event, with 113 provincial and 44 national assembly seats up for contention.
The electoral landscape in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa remains fiercely competitive, with over 1,700 candidates vying for seats in the provincial assembly and 733 contenders contesting for positions in the national assembly.
PTA assures uninterrupted internet access on election day
A staggering total of 15,697 polling stations have been established across the province, ensuring accessibility and convenience for voters. The Election Commission has disclosed that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa boasts a registered voter count exceeding 21.9 million, with a significant gender balance as more than 9.9 million women join the electoral rolls alongside 1.19 million men.

The security apparatus is on high alert, with 4,134 polling stations classified as highly sensitive and 5,463 as sensitive, while 6,000 polling stations have been designated as normal.
To maintain law and order, over 126,000 police and security personnel have been deployed across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, underscoring the commitment to a peaceful and fair electoral environment.

As the voting process unfolds from 8 AM to 5 PM, the Election Commission remains steadfast in its dedication to upholding the democratic principles upon which the nation stands.
Postponed elections
Amidst this hustle bustle, however, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced the postponement of elections for two provincial seats and one national seat.
The decision to postpone elections in NA-8 and PK-20 Bajaur follows the tragic murder of independent candidate Rehan Zeb. Similarly, the untimely demise of ANP candidate Ismatullah for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Constituency 91 has prompted the postponement of elections in the respective constituency.
