KP cabinet approves to close May 9 and 10 cases

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) cabinet has approved the closure of cases related to the May 9 and 10 incidents.
Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Information Shafee Jan said that during the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, key decisions were taken, including the doing away with the cases registered without evidence, which were allegedly filed for political revenge.
The provincial cabinet also approved handing over the inquiry into the Radio Pakistan Peshawar incident to a special committee of the provincial assembly.
The cabinet approved a special grant of Rs150 million for the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and authorised the implementation of recommendations from the committee on the repeal of the Action in Aid of Civil Powers law.
Members were also briefed on wheat stocks, inter-provincial transport, and future strategy. The existing committee on additional wheat procurement was given the authority to take necessary steps if required.
The cabinet approved financial assistance for two patients in need of kidney and bone marrow transplants and also sanctioned funds for the timely completion of ongoing development projects in the province.
Earlier, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cabinet approved the withdrawal of a case related to vandalism and firing incidents that took place on May 9, 2023 in Mardan.
