PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has introduced a digital driving licence facility for citizens across the province to modernise the driving licence system.
Under the new system, citizens will no longer need to carry a hard copy of their driving licence at all times.
According to the KP Traffic Police, citizens can access their digital driving licence through the relevant mobile application by entering their CNIC number and obtain it within moments.
Traffic police officials in Peshawar have been directed to recognise the digital driving licence displayed on a mobile phone as a valid legal document.
Citizens will not be fined for presenting a digital driving licence instead of a physical copy.
Chief Traffic Officer Peshawar Zahid Ullah said the introduction of the digital driving licence was an important step towards the effective use of technology in the traffic police system.
He said the modern digital system would make access to driving licences easier for citizens and help make traffic-related services more convenient and advanced.
It is pertinent to mention that KP Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi had inaugurated the Digital Licence Management System for driving licences three months ago.
At the time, he said the process of issuing driving licences had been made completely digital under the new system.
