PESHAWAR: In a significant shift aimed at streamlining the recruitment process, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has announced a comprehensive overhaul in how government institutions fill vacancies.
A new directive mandates that all recruitment to government posts, both ongoing and future, must be carried out exclusively through the Education Testing and Evaluation Authority (ETA).
The decision, which applies to all government departments in the province, comes as part of a broader push for greater transparency and efficiency in public sector hiring. A notification issued by the Livestock, Fisheries, and Cooperatives Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa outlined that the new procedure would be immediately implemented, with all current recruitment processes now required to be linked with ETA.
The notification further specified that any recruitment outside of this new process will need special permission from the relevant department secretary, marking an end to previous practices that allowed internal or other external agencies to manage hiring.
In addition to the recruitment policy shift, the government has launched a fast-track cell designed to expedite the payment of General Provident Fund (GPF) dues for retired employees. This initiative is expected to provide immediate financial relief to retirees awaiting payment of their benefits.
As part of the restructuring, all government offices have been instructed to fully cooperate with ETA in matters concerning recruitment advertisements, testing schedules, and result management. Departments have also been ordered to submit a detailed report on the implementation of the new directive within the next seven days.
With this new policy, the KP government aims to ensure a more transparent and merit-based recruitment system, minimising delays and increasing public trust in the hiring process.
