KP govt requisitions assembly session amidst stand-off with governor

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has submitted a requisition to the Assembly Secretariat, signed by 37 provincial assembly members, seeking to convene the assembly session.

This move comes after KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi did not sign, until late on Thursday, the summary that had sought the assembly session on Friday. The KP Assembly speaker will decide on this requisition today (Friday).

Earlier, KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur had signed the summary to call the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly session on Friday, and forwarded it to the governor for his signature.

However, even after two days, the KP governor has not signed the said summary. Consequently, the provincial government has submitted the requisition, signed by 37 members of the provincial assembly, to the Assembly Secretariat.

The provincial assembly speaker will decide on the requisition today, sources said.
